Graham County is taking applications for a (2) part-time/dispatch telecommunicators.
Required to work 12-hour shifts in a 24/7 shift rotating environment. Minimum requirements: High School Diploma or Equivalent; at least 18 years of age; Valid NC Driver’s License and a clear criminal background check. Moderate typing and computer skills required; multitasking including excellent listening/speaking skills; remains calm in stressful environment and must be able to sit for extended periods of time. You will be subject to a pre-employment drug test. DescriptionThe position of Public Health Educator I performs administrative work in coordinating and directing health education and promotional efforts for the agency. Work includes presentations, seminars, health fairs and other outreach activities. Provides information to referred patients from other program/clinic staff; employee must exercise independent judgment and initiative in developing, implementing, and monitoring plans; employee must exercise tact and courtesy daily; may be asked to perform other related duties as required. Serves as a certified car seat technician. Serves as lead on Community Health Assessments; State of County Health Reports and serves on the Accreditation Team. Reports to the Health Director.
The purpose of the Community Alternatives Program (CAP) in Graham County is to provide home care as an alternative to nursing home placement for the disabled in need of skilled or intermediate care. Home care services are provided to improve and maintain the health status of each individual as well as help prevent disease and further disability. The program’s goal is to allow individuals to return to or to remain in the community and live as independently as possible.
Qualifications
Graduation from a four-year college or university with a major in Health Education; or graduation from a four-year college or university and one year of experience in public health education; or an equivalent combination of training or experience. Must submit transcripts for review with application.
General Information
General knowledge of the functions of community health agencies. General knowledge of methods and techniques used in preparing and disseminating educational information to the public. General knowledge of the techniques involved in preparing and displaying posters, exhibits and other educational visual aids. Ability to present ideas effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with departmental personnel, community organizations and the general public. Ongoing training through continuing education and other state and local programs.
